Use a wide-tooth comb or detangling brush specifically designed for wet hair. Start from the ends and work your way up to the roots, being gentle with any knots or tangles.
Skipping Heat Protection
Styling tools can reach temperatures of 200°C or higher. Without proper protection, this heat literally cooks your hair, causing permanent damage to the protein structure. Many Australians use straighteners and blow dryers regularly but forget this crucial step.
Apply a heat protectant product before using any heated styling tools. These products create a barrier that helps reduce damage while maintaining your desired style.
Neglecting Regular Trims
Split ends travel up the hair shaft if left untreated, causing more extensive damage. Waiting too long between trims means removing more length than necessary to fix the problem.
Book regular appointments every 6-8 weeks to maintain healthy hair. Even if you’re growing your hair out, small trims prevent damage from spreading and keep your hair looking fresh.
